I am dissapointed from Mr cobboldallover's un constructive review. Yes there are groups of people in the pub that may appear cliquey as you put it, because the pub attracts many people from different companies as well as theatre companies from the Wolsey and John Mills, not to mention a varied amount of clubs, who use this pub as a meeting place. But there are also many friendly locals, and I've always found someone to talk to. Isn't this is what a good pub is all about? Perhaps Mr Cobboldallover has a problem with socialising?
On the whole The Greyhound is everything a tradittional pub should be in the 21st century.
C'mon Mr Cobboldallover, lighten up and talk to someone, you will find a friendly clientelle and great staff.

In response to Gareth’s input (below) I do think that this poor chap does not know too much about what he has written. He says that the pub is OK and in the same sentence says it’s lifeless. Surely if the Pub is lifeless than how can it be OK? He also refers that all pubs within the Adnams Estate as lifeless. I’m sure anyone who has visited the Greyhound or any other Adnams Pub (with just one or two exceptions) will find that they are not lifeless at all. He also asks the question: “Why are so many pubs forced into food?” Well the answer to that is because they need to diversify. If Pubs didn’t do food than I’m sure we’ll see many more closures than what we see at the moment; especially with the smoking ban! He also suggests that the pub cook its food in s**t cooking oil. As a regular of The Greyhound I do know that they have a reputation of food smells, especially in the front bar, but these are not bad oil cooking smells, just the smell of food cooking. I asked the barman about the cooking smells, and I must just add that they are pleasant smells 99.9 per cent of the time, why are they more apparent than in some other pubs. The answer is quite straight forward. The Greyhound’s kitchen is smack bang in the middle of the pub, whereas most pub kitchens are on the end of the building with at least two outside walls. The other point Gareth makes is that The Greyhound only has a clientele because there is nothing else around. You only have to take a few minute’s walk down the road and you’re in the town centre! I think the Greyhound is marketed towards people who enjoy the values of an uncontrived pub and Gareth is someone who likes the loud brash pubs of the town centre. Remember, pubs can be like Marmite; you either like them or dislike them. But please, don’t put unconstructive criticism. It may be your right in a democracy but it also takes the pee out of democracy.

Ok as a pub but seems to be the typical Adnams estate pub lifeless, beer always expensive, food ok,why are so many pubs being forced into food and cooking it with s##t oil only seems to get a clientelle as there is nothing else around
