Good and bad opinons of this place. Popped in on my own not so long ago, barmaid looked me up & down & then ignored me. I'm not exactly from the yachting brigade so maybe she thought I didn't belong there, despite the fact I've been going in there for nearly 30 years. After 15 minutes of waiting I went to the Spread Eagle for a much more friendly welcome. That place needs your support people, before we lose it for ever!!!!
More recently I went in with my wife & the landlord was on duty and he was a smashing bloke. Really friendly & full of info about the beers on offer, a real pleasure all round. So take your chances!!!!

PLease do try their food. It's yummy.
My dad visits from Newcastle every so often and I have to fit in a visit to the Lord Nelson for a beef and Ale pie or he's unhappy with me (read very unhappy!) This is a gorgeous wee pub with an impressive menu. My ex is a veggie and this is one of the few pubs we rates for veggie options too.
