The first time you hear the mysterious churring of a nightjar at dusk on a late spring evening is a moment that stays with you for the rest of your life - and one you will want to repeat.Join our guide for a leisurely, late evening walk to possibly hear this magical bird churring from a song post in spring or maybe see it flitting low over the heath in summer. As night falls we might as well hear the roosting birds on the estuary or a hooting tawny owl in the nearby woodland. We will also look for bats and glow-worms on the warmer summer evenings. These walks are organised by 'Wild Adventures under Suffolk's Skies'. Please find the full details, the latest list of available dates and the online booking form published on www.WASuffolk.co.uk and contact Monika on WASuffolk@gmail.com for more information. Additional dates for groups of 3+ people are possible on demand! This walk is suitable for all levels of knowledge. Please consider that we will walk over very rough and uneven ground in the darkness and bring a small torch. Long-sleeved and dark coloured clothing, insect repellent and sturdy closed footwear are strongly recommended.Unfortunately, because this heathland reserve is a wild location with fence and kissing gates to keep the livestock inside, the path is not fully accessible by wheelchairs or push chairs. We can not accept dogs at this walk, because the nightjar could take them as potential predators and disappear out of our sight. The RSPB and 'Wild Adventures under Suffolk's Skies' are working together to give nature a home. £3 of your fee will go to the RSPB to fund nature conservation on the Suffolk coast.
Please note: this event is not organised by the RSPB
Price: £9; places are limited to 8 participants per walk and booking in advance with Monika is essential.
